Playboy Jazz Festival Lineup in Los Angeles

A look back to Playboy Jazz Festival history tells us that the legendary Playboy Jazz Festival in Amsterdam in 1970 was such a turning point for jazz as an art form. Organized by the Art Institutes of America, the Playboy Jazz Festival brought together hundreds of international jazz artists and musicians in the Netherlands. In its wake came the "Jazz Summer" exhibition in London, featuring works by such jazz greats as Larry Carlton and countersign musician Jack Wilkins. The Amsterdam edition of Playboy Jazz Festival celebrated its 30th year with a celebration of its achievements in terms of artistic impact, as well as its focus on local artists and musicians.

Now it's the turn of another internationally renowned jazz festival to be staged in Amsterdam, this time the Playboy Jazz Festival Lineup in Los Angeles. Organized by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Arts Commission, the jazzfest-los Angeles edition of Playboy Jazz Festival is expected to be just as successful as its Dutch predecessor. Already a month away from its starting date, registrations for the jazz festival are currently underway and include both local residents and visitors from abroad. The musical program for the festival will feature a number of local and international artists, as well as musical groups hailing from all over the globe.

Just like its forerunner, the Playboy Jazz Festival in Amsterdam features a diverse program featuring both local and international artists. Highlights this time around will include appearances by supergroup Cream, folk rock band The Bluegrass Society, jazz fusion ensemble Mesa-based ensemble Invention, pop artist Mark Whitfield and rapper Bunjee Ebony. Additional artists scheduled to perform include vocalist/composer extraordinaire Donavan, guitarist Rob Bailey, bassist/percussionist Lee Ritenour, as well as jazz and blues singer Le Roi La Rose. One can only wait for the final day of the jazzfest, when the legendary percussionist and trumpeter Le Roi La Rose will take to the stage to perform solo. Other notable performers scheduled to perform will include Canadian jazz musician Richard Reed Kelly, American jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour, Americana artist Herb Ellis, as well as the English guitarist and vocalist Peter Hook. Playboy Jazz Festival Lineup in Los Angeles promises to be an exciting and unforgettable jazz experience for participants from around the world.

Playboy Jazz Festival: Five acts not to miss at the Hollywood Bowl

In the event that the temperatures are starting to climb, it must be Playboy Jazz Festival season once more.

A L.A. staple that is commending its 40th commemoration this year, the celebration has planned a regularly varied blend from the universes of jazz, pop and R&B. As you join the procession of revelers (and their coolers) moving up the Hollywood Bowl's slope this end of the week, here's a determination of acts to make sure not to miss.

Charles Lloyd and the Marvels with Lucinda Williams: When allowed a chance to get a craftsman as particular as saxophonist Charles Lloyd, it's best to ensure you're not a long way from your seat. An expressive and looking craftsman who at the early statures of his vocation imparted bills to the Grateful Dead, Lloyd has remained an anxious figure from that point forward. His most recent band, a deft gathering that incorporates shape-moving guitarist Bill Frisell, as of late united with the similarly bold Williams for an up and coming collection and dependent on the couple of tunes discharged up until this point, including a front of Dylan's "Lords of War" firecrackers can be normal. Sunday.

Kneebody: Forged about two decades back with a long-lasting residency at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, this band combines jazz and shake with spacey gadgets for a sound kind visually impaired sound. The band has since dispersed around the nation, however the quintet of saxophonist Ben Wendel, trumpeter Shane Endsley, keyboardist Adam Benjamin and the supernatural beat segment of Kaveh Rastegar and Nate Wood will make you consider Radiohead at one moment, Herbie Hancock's electro-funk in the following. Sunday.

Snarky Puppy: A romping, Grammy-winning blend of jazz, R&B and funk with a turning cast of 25 individuals, this band driven by bassist Michael League doesn't sit still long regarding a melodic style, however the outcomes dependably keep its gathering of people moving too. A conceivable possibility for getting the Bowl on its feet with a prepared armory of overwhelming depressions, it may be best to ensure you've gotten out your outing before this band begins. Saturday.

Hubtones: Freddie Hubbard's 80th Birthday Celebration: The Playboy Jazz Festival — and jazz overall has a notoriety for tributes, and this festival of Hubbard has stuffed a lineup of deft trumpeters who have emulated his example. Bandleaders Nicholas Payton, Randy Brecker, David Weiss, Jeremy Pelt and Vicente Archer are among those close by who will respect the late ace, and keeping in mind that they'll all review Hubbard somehow or another, they won't seem like each other either. Sunday.

The Miles Electric Band: In the late '60s and '70s, Miles Davis again changed music with collections like "A Tribute to Jack Johnson," "Quietly" and the milestone "Bitches Brew" and from multiple points of view whatever is left of the world still hasn't exactly made up for lost time. Driven by trumpeter Jeremy Pelt, this Davis tribute has a great deal of dim enchantment to attempt and recover. Try not to wager against them. Saturday.
