Dudamel Announces Hollywood Bowl Program!

I 'm sure most of my readers know who Huffington Gustavo Dudamel is, but if it is not at 33 Venezualan -born music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In the five years he's been here, he has revitalized the orchestra and brought it to even greater heights of performance and excitement.

Once you have seen this wonderful curly hair lead the ensemble with his whole body (and hair) flying over, you will understand why always the LA Phil is now considered one of the greatest orchestras in the world. Much credit for this sustained success must also go to a woman named Deborah Borda, who is the President / CEO of the organization.

It was she who realized that with what Gustavo to revitalize the LA music scene here and was determined to beat him from under the noses of the largest and richest places. She followed him from city to city, country to country, as he guest conducted other orchestras....

And finally wooed and won for us. All this went through my mind as I sat on the stage of the Hollywood Bowl last week as Dudamel and Borda announced the program for this summer's Hollywood Bowl, the 93rd season for the LA Phil at the Bowl. Subscriptions and single tickets are on sale now for its classic, weekend entertainment, evening concerts and jazz Festival KCRW World Series.

The fact that Joachim PATINA Spichal Restaurant Group also was giving me the likes of many of the dishes available to customers in their restaurants Bowl both there and in the boxes delivered meals was a powerful incentive for me to be there.

For many years I had a box for four in an evening of classical music in the bowl, and as the food expert was responsible for the delivery of food. I spent days shopping and cooking for my guests finally wearying of that task when Joachim and his men seized the restoration activities 15 years ago and offers delicious meals delivered to each Boxholder .

Each year we have extended and expanded over the offerings until this year, I realized that a trip to the bowl can be both for food and for music. I have spent time exploring the unique selling points 17 Food stands at the historic performance. Wow, it was a revelation.

I realized that I have captured the essence and emotion of the local culinary landscape with all food places. Especially interesting was the new full-service outdoor.... Wine Bar is perched above the main entrance to the boxes. New this year is a snack menu, vermouth, port and the like ... and Shishito Peppers, pulled pork sliders and fried chicken and grits.

After entering the gates of the headquarters of the famous , the Staccato pick -up window ( where you can get new -this- year JBS chili fries, fried golden chicken , Thai chicken sausage , a pool Burger ( first appears one pound Angus burger stuffed with braised ribs, candied bacon , gruyere cheese and black truffle aioli ) , and vegetarian options with deposit .

different picnic baskets are here for hunger. freshly rolled sushi and dim sum from Nishi Sushi Kitchen at West Market is a special gift , and you can proceed to the roof Grill (where the tantalizing smell of grilled meat mesquite be enough incentive to ask for a juicy steak or slab of ribs.)

I asked to see some of the offerings menu for holders of boxes ... and saw some very tempting dishes ... puttanesca penne pasta, fried chicken, golden plates and artisan cheeses and meats.

I had the opportunity to speak with Dudamel for a moment, and said he was excited about the realization of two Italian operas this summer: Cavalieria rusticana and Pagliacci on 27 July. He mentioned that he had taken a month off this year to write a soundtrack for a small independent film that promised review.

He and Deborah praised the international tour of the orchestra just completed a great success. We all watched in wonder at the empty bowl, and someone said that all banks had been replaced. Deborah said were deliberately not painted, so you could ride slowly in color. A new sound system is also in place.

I well remember coming here my first week in Los Angeles in the early 50s and the payment of money for a seat in the last row. Gustavo said he wanted to be a guest on opening night, June 21, when Kristin Chenoweth and Go -Go were installed in 2014 Hall of Fame and performed. Deb told me that Kristin is the 43rd person to be inducted into Hall of Fame in its 15 years of existence.

Monica Mancini will sing at the Playboy Jazz Festival

All marvel at the next July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, when fireworks explode over the shell. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, with Edie Brickell, take place. I've written here on Huffington about my excitement to see the hair during one of his performances on August 1, 2 or 3, since I actually had attended his opening night on Broadway in 1968.

(I cannot wait to hear good morning and Acquarius here) Some other highlights of the season schedule for 15 weeks from June to September. Playboy Jazz Festival will be here on June 14 and 15 ; Superstar violinist Joshua Bell , July 8 ; Empress of Soul , Gladys Knight, 8 and 9 August ;

Gloria Estefan and 26 June 25t , Yo Yo Ma and Leonard Slatkin on August 14 ; and even a Beatles 50th Anniversary show on August 22 and 23 , with Dave Stewart as emcee . Of course, John Williams will make his film score wonderful thing on August 29 and 30 with Seth MacFarlane as a guest. Dudamel will conduct an all Beethoven program. My favorite guy, Herbie Hancock, is back as musical advisor and playing jazz on August 6.

Jeff Katzenberg will be front and center when Dreamworks Animation celebrates 20th anniversary on June 18 and 19 with Jack Black as host. (In case of a ball, with clips from the movie on the big screen Bowl)

The media personalities on stage.

As the sun sets and the lights come on, enjoy one of the most beloved summer traditions here at the Bowl. Dinner prior to the concert, if you bring your own or order patina is a great fun thing to do ... I know, I've been doing for many, many years. (And we hope to continue for a long, long time.) So join me to listen to The Age of Aquarius and revive their flagging spirits. Bebe, friend.
